The OUT Foundation shows their tremendous support in favor of the Utah Supreme Court ruling that transgender people can change their name and gender on their birth certificates.
Petitions to legally change gender markers in the state of Utah may be granted without any further hearing or constitutional impediment for two reasons:
First, show the petition is not made for any wrongful or fraudulent purpose.
Second, include objective evidence about the gender-affirming identity change, reflecting at minimum, in the form of evidence of appropriate clinical care or treatment for gender transitioning or change, provided by a licensed medical professional.
The OUT Foundation supports full and equal rights for all transgender people as well as any other person whose gender identity cannot expressly be defined by transgender or binary gender terms. We are proud of the ruling by the Utah Supreme Court in providing more equality for our transgender citizens and urge other states to do the same.
