Executive director

We are seeking a passionate and visionary Executive Director to lead in advancing its mission of empowering queer students and alumni. The Executive Director will play a pivotal role in shaping the organization's strategic direction, building partnerships, and ensuring the effective implementation of programs that support the holistic development of LGBTQ+ students and alumni.

Duties will include:

  • Strategic Leadership:

    • Develop and execute a strategic vision for The OUT Foundation in collaboration with the Board of Directors.

    • Identify and pursue opportunities to expand the organization's impact and reach.

  • Program Development and Management:

    • Oversee the design, implementation, and evaluation of programs that address the unique needs of queer students, focusing on academic, professional, and social development.

    • Ensure programs align with best practices, inclusivity, and cultural competency.

  • Fundraising and Financial Management:

    • Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy to secure financial resources for the organization.

    • Cultivate relationships with donors, grant-making organizations, and corporate partners.

    • Manage the organization's budget and financial resources effectively.

  • Community Engagement:

    • Build and maintain relationships with educational institutions, community organizations, and other stakeholders to enhance collaboration and support for queer students.

    • Represent The OUT Foundation at public events and advocate for the organization's mission.

  • Board Collaboration:

    • Work collaboratively with the Board of Directors to provide regular updates, seek guidance, and ensure alignment with organizational goals.

  • Staff Leadership and Development:

    • Recruit, mentor, and lead a dedicated team, fostering a positive and inclusive organizational culture.

    • Provide professional development opportunities for staff members.

qualification

  • Minimum of 2 years of leadership experience in the nonprofit sector, with a proven track record of success.

  • Demonstrated commitment to and understanding of LGBTQ+ issues, particularly related to the experiences of queer students.

  • Strong strategic thinking and visionary leadership skills.

  • Experience in fundraising, grant writing, and financial management.

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including Board members, staff, volunteers, and community partners.

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Master's degree preferred).

Candidates who display a track record of volunteer work/activism within the LGBTQ+ community will be preferred. Queer BYU alumni and/or residency in Utah is preferred.
